Passenger Plane’s Door Breaks Mid-Flight, Video of Landing Goes Viral – Alaska Airlines’ plane experienced a dramatic landing at Portland International Airport, with video footage of the incident going viral on social media. According to reports from Fox News and other international news agencies, on the night of January 5, Alaska Airlines’ Boeing 737 took off from Portland, and shortly after takeoff, the mid-section door of the aircraft broke, causing it to detach from the plane.
The incident occurred during a turbulent landing at Portland International Airport, where the flight faced severe pressure, leading to the significant damage and detachment of a large portion of the door and an empty seat.
A passenger on board described the landing as having very high winds, but all passengers remained seated with their seatbelts fastened. Another passenger referred to the flight as a “trip to hell,” mentioning that the strong wind pressure even caused their mobile phone to fall outside.
The plane carried 171 passengers and 6 crew members, and fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. After reaching an altitude of 16,325 feet, the aircraft safely landed back at the airport.
In the video, passengers on the plane can be seen wearing oxygen masks, and the broken door reveals a clear sky outside.
The American Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, and subsequently, the American airline regulator has issued orders to ground some Boeing 737 aircraft.
